Conference #1

*whistles & wipes brow*

Okay that wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be,

Ms. H sat me down and talked first about Lil Bit’s academics. She’s one of the top 5 students in the class. Apparently she was given a DIBELS assessment in the beginning of the year and she’s 3 points shy of where she needs to be after Kindergarten. (She scored 23/30). It is noticeable that she picks subjects up easier and there is a concern that once lessons and activities start, Ms. H will need to find things that will challenge her.

Right now they are learning about rules and classroom behavior. Lil Bit has a hard time sitting and relaxing during story time and therefore has a hard time with the rules.

All in all, Ms H was really easy to speak with about everything that was going on. She acknowledged that Lil Bit was still getting used to her and the rules. She’s learning where the limits are and how far she can press. Doesn’t mean it’s right, but it happens.

I also found out that she hasn’t been eating breakfast in the mornings- that may definitely play a part in her behavior issues. I’m going to start reminding her as she gets on the bus in the morning to go to the cafeteria for breakfast. Fingers crossed that this helps her.

Today she got a blue clip for not behaving… again… PMHO. I’m going bald.

I hope things get easier for Lil Bit and Ms. H. I feel bad that she is interrupting class time, but what can we do? Some more changes will be applied this week to see if they help.

Thats it for now *sigh*
