Update 3/21/14

Yay for 3 months update!!

Okay. So things have been so much better this year. It is truly amazing how much difference a teacher can make. I praise her everyday and thank her even more for all the help she has given this year.

The SST meetings completed and all is well on that end. Though my evaluation and her teacher’s evaluation had her marked borderline Aspergers, all other tests came back negative. She was observed her in the classroom for a couple of days and I did mention that some of their findings were not typical for her. For example, other children touching her or being too close will normally set her off some, but on the one occasion she was observed it did not. Her teacher was in the final meeting and I asked if that was typical behavior for her and her teacher agreed with me that it was not. It probably didn’t help that she knew she was being observed and kept looking at the person askance as if to say ‘WHY are you watching ME?’ She tested ‘Superior’ in all maths, unsurprisingly, and high in other subjects.

The result is that they will continue to track behavior and ensure that improvement continues. And I am happy with the work and support that I have received and will continue to receive.

It’s very nice to be able to say that 🙂
